Vicereines of Ireland Academic Book

Vicereines of Ireland

Vicereines of Ireland is an academic book about a group of overlooked women in Irish history. The design captures the rich material world of these women and also reflects the humanity of their actions. The colour palette was taken from blush pink paints that survive on the paint palette of one of the women. The end papers were inspired by an old Italian marbled notebook and were made with a traditional spot marbling technique that was then digitally adapted. A gold foil frame is blocked on the hardcover behind the cover image, so the woman shown comes forward.
