Theater House Residential Home

Theater House

Theater House is a residential house in Jakarta, Indonesia. The design connects each part of the house through a split-level layout, from the entrance to the centre of the home. The main space is an open living and dining room with openings on both sides that face the outdoors, allowing natural light and air to circulate. A planter box above the entrance portal forms a soft visual buffer and gives a garden view from within. The upper floor holds the bedrooms, each with access to a roof garden. Textured paint in three tones of grey and natural wooden planks form the finishes.

The House of Breathing Void Residential Home

The House of Breathing Void

House of the Breathing Void is a residential house organized around a central atrium. The atrium acts as an open void where air and light circulate freely, forming the environmental core of the home. The atrium also creates a continuous dialogue between interior and exterior spaces. The house follows bioclimatic principles, with a clear southern orientation that captures sunlight, supports passive heating and encourages natural ventilation. The same orientation gives the building a diagonal form, a response that is both spatial and climatic.

Spark Residential Home

Spark

Spark is a residential interior design for a four-floor house with a total area of 1,448 square meters. The interior combines minimal white walls and ceilings with dark timber floors laid in a herringbone pattern. A twisting staircase connects the floors and rises to the attic, and the whitewashed balustrade curves into a sculptural ribbon. Partitions were reduced to join the kitchen, dining area and lounge in one open plan. Large windows bring natural light into the living room and frame views of the garden.

Toowong Renovation Residential Home

Toowong Renovation

This Toowong Renovation started with the main goal of making the most out of a sloping block. From there, design ideas and opportunities for the home, which would not have been previously possible on a flat property, were brought to light. The use of curved and natural forms were present in the central design, which then softens the hardscape surface and outdoor structure to create flow. All of this created a flow from the indoor to the outdoors of the home and reduced challenges the home faced including heat, restricted airflow, and natural light.

Abstract House Residential Home

Abstract House

The residence utilizes a modern aesthetic while retaining a central courtyard, which evokes the traditional Kuwaiti practice in the building of houses. Here the residence is allowed to acknowledge both past and present, without clashing. The water feature at the steps of the main door sweeps outwards, the floor to ceiling glass helps keep the spaces more open, allowing the users to go between outside and inside, past and present, effortlessly.

Slabs House Residential Home

Slabs House

The Slab House was designed to juxtapose construction materials, combining wood, concrete, and steel. The design is at once hyper-modern yet discreet. The huge windows are an immediate focal point, but they are protected from the weather and street-view by concrete slabs. Gardens feature heavily in the property, both on the ground level and at the first floor, allowing the residents to feel connected to nature as they interact with the property, creating a unique flow as one moves from the entrance to the living areas.
